Had a great week last week. Jo came over from Ireland to visit. First time we'd met. It was wonderful! She's an absolute star.
Anyway, here I am back at work now, trying to phone Derriford and the phone is ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing and ringins and ringing and ringing and ringing and......I'm about to lose the will to live! No wonder patients get so irritated!

3.15 pm - Depression sets in
Its been a weird day. Lots of computer problems with programmes not loading or freezing in the middle of me doing something. Despite having an early night and doing sod all yesterday evening, I'm starting to feel tired again. I would think its a blood sugar low despite the fact that I've been drinking hot lemon and honey today (sore throat) and had a dark chocolate kitkat earlier...........
Eyes tired,
fingers ache
weariness all over..........
Depressed as I look out of the window and see other colleagues leaving work for the weekend
Five o'clock that will be me. Out the door. Freedom until I rejoin the chain gang 9am Monday

So much for posting more often!
Here we are, nearly at the end of February and I still have only one post from the beginning of January on this blog! Well thats now changed, I guess, as this is number two.....
Just a quick update from my last post. Friends in Australia had another little boy, which is all good news. Everything going fine from what I understand.
What a busy time its been! One of my colleagues, Chris, handed in her notice between Christmas and New Year, leaving at the end of January. Its been chaotic at work, not just because we were behind with the work due to holidays and sickness but because of......SNOW! Now I like the white stuff but usually if we have snow then its all gone by the next day. Not so this time. I have to admit, we didn't have it as bad as peeps up country, but Cornwall came to a standstill! I think I saw two gritters with snow ploughs at different times (Maybe they were the same one?), which was abysmal. In the past, the roads have been really well gritted with plenty of council men out doing the roads.....thats all changed - staff cutbacks. *rolleyes*.
Anyway, Adam was really happy....proper snow, lots of snowball fights etc etc etc. Actually he was as good as gold. The school closed for a couple of days then opened, then closed, blah blah blah. He had to come into work with me a couple of days, brought his DS of course. Not great for a kid but he was really well behaved. *proud mother moment*
Anyway, we thought all that bad weather was over when, this morning, we woke to another sprinkling of the white stuff. Hopefully we won't get too much. I feel for my friend and work colleague, Veronica. She and her hubby are jetting off to Goa for 2 weeks. I hope they don't get snowed in at the airport as I think London has it pretty bad but not as bad as Manchester last night (according to the news). Ah well back to work....no rest for the wicked. I must have been bad!

So here it is...2010
Happy New Year! January again and a time for reflection on what has been and what is yet to come. No resolutions made, so they can't been broken. On the whole, 2009 was a good year. Work is going fine. Stuart and I are still strong and love each other. Adam, our son, is settled at school and making good improvements. Thank God for a brilliant teacher! Last year's teacher was a nightmare to say the least but thats all water under the bridge now. Time to move on and not dwell on the past.
Of course, this year hasn't been without its losses and its gains. My Uncle Byron passed away in July. He'd been ill for a while but suddenly declined. Then his wife, Auntie Barbara, my Mum's oldest sister, died in October. A grateful release there. She'd been suffering from Alzheimer's and had been in a residential home. Then, after that, I heard from one of my friends in Australia that her partner had died. Again, heartwrenchingly sad as they have two young daughters. And earlier today, before I started to write this, I heard of the death of an old friend, Ian Stewart aka YorkHarper, one of my old friends from the Anne McCaffrey website, OKT. Rest in Peace, Ian. You really were a Master Harper.
Gains include a baby for Donna, who was my bridesmaid, and Harrison, who was born on 7th December to Richard and Merryn, again good friends of Stuart and myself. Still on tenderhooks though, waiting the safe delivery of the second baby of my dear friends, Gracie and David, again on the other side of the world in Australia.
So what does 2010 hold? I'm not sure. Things to look forward to include my friend, Jo, coming to visit from Northern Ireland in March/April. We've been friends for years online but we've never met. Needless to say, we are both really excited! :D Hubby Stuart wants to go somewhere hot for our summer holiday so need to start thinking about ideas there. Menorca seems very appealing. Adam, of course, wants to do to Disneyland Paris. So what do I want? Well I really need to lose weight. I am now officially morbidly obese. Must really try, if not for myself then for my husband and son. I'd like to learn a new skill, or maybe try and find that enthusiasm to write some stuff. I wonder if I should venture back into Pern? At the moment, I'm doing Harry Potter role play and Robin Hood too. I also belong to a site run by my good friend, Sarah, which covers a lot of genres and we're going to have a go at RPing Twilight there. The Volturi of course, after all baddies always have the most fun. I'm playing femme fatale, Heidi. *note to self, must start working on the bio!
As for the rest of 2010, well I take it as it comes. Bring it on!
